In Ayurveda, there is a principle: a doctor cannot prescribe treatment without thoroughly understanding its effect. Guided by this same rule, the management of the MedicaTour company was invited to take a 7‑day course of health‑promoting treatment at the Sanjeevanam Ayurveda Hospital in Cochin.
Sanjeevanam is not just a SPA. It is a full‑fledged hospital designed by the founders of the legendary Medimix brand. For those who are not familiar: Medimix is an iconic Indian brand, known for its Ayurvedic soap with 18 herbs, which has become a symbol of natural care worldwide. Behind this brand stands the AVA Group — a powerful conglomerate that today is developing Sanjeevanam. It’s important to understand: they have their own pharmaceutical laboratory. They don’t just prescribe treatments; they also create Ayurvedic products — oils, tablets, and powders — from their own raw materials, strictly controlling the purity and effectiveness of each component.
The hospital is accredited according to the standards of NABH (the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers in India), which guarantees the medical rigor of every process. Here, the ancient practices of Kerala meet modern technologies.
Our week was structured as a full‑fledged clinical program, and we experienced firsthand the very protocols that we offer to patients:
- Deep cleansing programs (Panchakarma). We personally felt how the techniques for removing toxins from deep tissues work — from preparatory oil applications to targeted cleansing procedures.
- Restorative oil therapies (Snehana and Svedana). Multi‑hour synchronous four‑handed massages that nourish the nervous system at the cellular level, relieving tension accumulated over the years.
- A personalized diet based on local organic products. Nutrition that changes every day depending on the body’s response. Food here is medicine, prepared from freshly harvested herbs and spices that enhance the effect of the treatment.
- Daily yoga and pranayama to synchronize with circadian rhythms. Practices that helped restructure the production of melatonin and cortisol, restoring natural sleep–wake cycles.
The main conclusion we came back to Russia with: the level of medical Ayurveda in Kerala is a benchmark for preventive medicine. We have seen from our own experience that the systemic approach here is not aimed at suppressing symptoms, but at finding and eliminating their root cause.
In the Western paradigm, we often wait until the body fails. At Sanjeevanam, we saw how it’s possible to work proactively: to restore neuroendocrine balance, to relieve deep‑seated tensions that have been building up for years due to the high pace of work, and to restore the body’s natural ability to self‑regulate. We saw how the treatment of psychosomatics and chronic fatigue is approached here in a systematic way — by addressing the root causes of exhaustion, rather than simply masking them with rest.
