Childbirth in Chile

Childbirth abroad has already ceased to be something unusual. Many parents are thinking about how to make the birth of such a desirable and long-awaited baby as comfortable as possible for him and for his mother. But it is not only the high level of medicine that attracts expectant dads and moms in the prospect of giving birth abroad. Often the main motive is the possibility of obtaining citizenship "by the right of the soil", when a newborn receives not only life as a gift, but also a prestigious passport.

Why to give birth in Latin America?

Russians and residents of the former CIS countries are increasingly turning their eyes to Latin America as a continent that can give everything the same as the United States, but on more favorable terms. The most popular countries for childbirth in Latin America are Mexico, Argentina and Chile. It is important that entry to these countries is visa-free for Russians.

Childbirth in Mexico and Argentina is characterized by a relatively low price. However, this advantage does not arise out of the blue – these are quite poor countries with corresponding security problems. Chile, according to official information, is not only the leader among Latin American countries in terms of GDP and the most economically developed country, but also impresses with its level of security.

This country ranks 2nd in terms of security on the American continents, second only to Canada, and according to Transparency
international is a country with an extremely low level of corruption, second only to the United States and Canada.

The climate of Chile is also more familiar to Europeans, as it does not differ in extreme temperatures, and even in summer it is easy to breathe on the coast.

If we talk about the passports that newborns receive in these three countries, then in the world passport rating of passportindex, Mexico is on the 16th place, Argentina is on the 12th, and Chile has firmly established itself on the 11th place with 160 countries that a citizen of Chile can visit without a visa.

What attracts expectant parents to Chile?

Of course, first of all it is a Chilean passport. With it, the child will be able to freely cross the borders of the most developed countries: the Big Seven countries, including the USA, Japan, Canada, Australia, European and Asian countries.

For citizens of Chile, there is an accelerated procedure for obtaining Spanish citizenship (in just 2 years). It is much easier for the parents of a Chilean to obtain a residence permit and subsequently citizenship in this promising country themselves.

Medicine in Chile

Usually, even those who have previously given birth in the USA are pleasantly surprised by the qualifications of doctors multiplied by Latin American spiritual generosity and smiles. Many Chilean doctors were educated and trained in Europe and the USA.

In Chile, absolutely the entire range of medical services is available: natural childbirth, caesarean section according to indications,
pregnancy management with pathologies, and freezing of stem cells.

Before and after pregnancy, expectant mothers have access to the full range of necessary services, from preparation for childbirth to the establishment of breastfeeding after childbirth. Chileans respect the desire of the pope or other relatives of the woman in labor to attend the birth, all conditions are created for this, while the formalities are minimal.

Living conditions in Chile

Arriving at the birth, the expectant mother usually has to live in Chile for 2-3 months. As a rule, those who come to give birth settle by the ocean, in the central region of Chile. This section of the Pacific coast has a mild climate, pleasant (compared to Europe and the USA) housing prices and excellent food (in Chile, fresh vegetables and fruits do not leave the table all year round, in addition, you can treat yourself to seafood and meat of excellent quality).

It's also nice that Chile is very friendly to Russians. For them, we are just Europeans. As for the attitude towards pregnant women and women with children, it is very touching. There are even separate parking lots for pregnant women, not to mention separate queues at banks and shops.

When is it better to arrive for childbirth?

Of course, it is best to fly overseas not at 36 weeks, but at least a little earlier. But not everyone has this opportunity. Therefore, those pregnant women who fly to Chile for childbirth usually prefer business class. This is exactly a matter of comfort, so that you can get comfortable, sleep, stretch your legs properly. By themselves, flights are not dangerous for pregnant women at this time.

Summing up, I would like to note that Chile really is a worthy competitor to the states of Europe and the Americas, as a country suitable for childbirth.
